Supplement Review CTD Labs

Three amigos..

I recently spent a week trying the supplements of CTD Labs and I am more than happy to write about my praises for their lineup today.

I sampled three products: Noxipro Chrome- a stimulant based preworkout, Noxivol- a stimulant free preworkout/vasodilator, and Endurapro- an endurance and recovery formula.  I tried the preworkouts each once (and Endurapro after the two workouts), then tried one workout with a Noxipro Chrome/Noxivol mix and one workout with a Noxipro Chrome/Endurapro combo (took Noxipro Chrome first, then after 40 minutes, took Endurapro).  The results were phenomenal with each test…so much so, that I took an extra day to try just Noxipro Chrome again just to make sure I wasn’t imagining the awesome performance I had.  After the second time, I was convinced this was the best preworkout I’ve ever taken.

Noxipro Chrome comes in three flavors (fruit punch, grape, and pineapple strawberry).  I tried Fruit Punch in all three products and they tasted great..not too powerful, and not too sweet.  Noxipro Chrome mixes in seconds, and with a solid shake, has no sediment settling at the bottom of the shaker.  Their sales director advised that I start with just one serving rather than my usual double dose because it has something he calls “second gear”, which is a time released energy boost that kicks in during the workout (so you don’t waste the energy boost at the beginning and then slump later on).  He was dead on for calling that out.  The boost happened about 25 minutes into both workouts and it lasted until I was done.  Never before have I had a secondary kick in a preworkout, let alone a boost that was that effective.  Not only does Noxipro Chrome increase stamina and focus, it is very effective at reducing muscle fatigue and increasing performance.

Noxipro Chrome is loaded with performance.

Noxivol is basically a stim-free version of Noxipro Chrome and mixes and tastes the same way.  The advantage with Noxivol is the stim-free performance it provides which makes it ideal for a night workout, but it still gives the same results.  When mixed with Noxipro Chrome, Noxivol adds to the workout with extra pump, but without the over-stim jitters.  Taking the two together was, by far, one of the best workouts I’ve had.  One really cool thing about Noxivol is that is has Cissus quadrangularis in it.  Cissus is a vine that has been used in African and Asian medicine for years and is currently used to treat obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, weak bones, joint pain, asthma, and even back pain.

Noxivol has power without the stimulants.

Endurapro is the icing on the cake as far as I am concerned.  After you’ve torn through a solid workout (or if you’ve got some serious cardio in your workout), Endurapro is the endurance/recovery formula to make sure you can do it all again the next day.  It’s lactose free, has a 2:1:1 BCAA blend, a good advanced carb ratio, electrolytes to keep you going, and even 2g of protein.  Because it’s nice and light, it also goes down well after a workout on the drive home to make your protein shake.

Endurapro..It’s like a backup battery for your body.

Whether you’re in the market for a preworkout or an endurance/recovery drink, these three products are work like a dream and I’m happy I got to try them.  You really need to check them out..and you can do so here (there are also more products to try at their site).  You can also find them at Lockout Supplements and DPS Nutrition, and I hope to see them soon on  Not only are the products affordable, they’re also an incredible value for the price.

Check them out.  This is one brand I know you’ll enjoy!

Supplement Review #7- About Time

About Time is a product line for the healthy and the health-conscious alike.  They are gluten free, lactose free, and sweetened with Stevia.  On top of that, they make the best tasting protein I have ever had.

With flavors like “Cinnamon Swirl”, chocolate, vanilla, banana (Olivia loved it because it tastes like REAL banana), strawberry, and Pumpkin Spice, this is definitely the protein for people that like a gluten free protein that is also delicious.  Its also sugar free, has NO growth hormones, and packs 25g of protein per serving.

About Time is more than just protein, though..they also have creatine (mixes SO well!), glutamine, Aux (a great tasting pre-workout that isn’t loaded with junk), granola bars, and meal replacement bars.

With every single product, About Time has impressed me.  Go here to order sample packs and full size products.  If you give them a try, I am sure you will agree its the best flavored protein out there.

We are done with the reviews and there you have it..some of the supplement products I have tried and some that I would recommend for those of you on the track to a healthier lifestyle.  Feel free to give any of them a try and let me know what you think!

UPDATE:  I received word from About Time that if you log on to their website and enter the code “NATURAL” at time of checkout (no quotations), you’ll get 20% off of your order!!  Enjoy the savings!

Supplement Review #6- Muscle Gauge Nutrition

Protein is an ever necessary part of a healthy lifestyle.  I strongly believe in protein supplementation as a healthy way to meet the “.08 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight” rule to maintain healthy muscle mass.

Whey protein is my first recommendation for post workout (egg and beef are second), but you should know that not ALL whey proteins are the same and many taste like garbage or are loaded with unnecessary sugar/additives.

Muscle Gauge Nutrition American ISO and Pure Isolate proteins deliver a gluten free and delicious protein powder with none of the extra garbage that some proteins have. How delicious is it? It is easily one of the best tasting protein I have ever had in every single flavor I tried. Rocky Road tastes like rocky road ice cream, cinnamon bun tastes authentic, vanilla is a dream, and chocolate actually tastes like chocolate and not like cardboard! The only one that isn’t gluten free is the Ice Cream Sandwich flavor, but it is delicious.

American ISO gives a solid 22 grams of protein per serving and Pure Isolate is giving your body 25 grams of pure whey protein isolate per serving, and at only 110 calories per serving, its an easy decision to choose these proteins over others. On top of that, its also got a great blend of amino acids in each serving and it blends easily with both milk and/or water.

All in all, these are one of the top three protein brands I have ever tried in both taste and mixability. You can even sample some of you’d like to try it without buying a huge container first. Just go here to try a 6pk for under 10$. Its a great way to find a flavor you love. you can go here to try their American ISO samples too.

Just one more review to go everyone!

Supplement Review #4 Top Secret Nutrition

I am a huge supporter of pre-workout supplements.  Every single one I have tried just works in kicking my workout up to the next level.  The problem with many of them is that they wear off halfway into my workout. I also like to live life and go out to eat once in awhile but it can be tough on the digestion. Top Secret Nutrition has two products that can help.

Attack the weight rack

I tried TSN’s “Pump Igniter” and realized this was no ordinary pre-workout drink.  Not only does this drink kick up my workout performance, the boost lasted all of the way through my workout.

Packed with electrolytes, beet root, black pepper extract, L-Citrulline and Beta Alanine, along with Choline Bitartrate, Picamilon and a good measure of caffeine, this is a formula that certainly delivers on its name.

Just a side note, the beta alanine causes a tingly effect in your skin, which I love, but its not for everyone. For me, if I can feel it, I know I can work harder. Try the one scoop dose before graduating to the two scoop dose.

Happy Thanksgiving to me!
The second supplement I tried was the “Cal-Trim 1000” supplement. Heading into “Eating Season”, we all need whatever help we can get.

Cal-Trim 1000 isn’t a stimulant centered fat burner or a basic diet pill, it is a three pronged approach to supporting weight loss, affecting calorie absorption, and maintain healthy blood sugar.

There are 3 main ingredients in this product.
1. NeOpuntia, a 100% natural lipophilic (fat attracting) fiber made from the dehydrated leaves of the Opuntia ficus-indica cactus. Research has suggested that NeOpuntia has fat binding properties.

2. Innoslim, a proprietary, all-natural, plant-derived compound extracted from highly fractionated Panax notoginseng and Astragalus membranaceus (an herb used in eastern medicine for over 200 years)

3. White Kidney Bean Extract, which plays a key role in the digestion of starchy foods.

Together, these three provide a great approach to breaking down starchy and fatty meals. I have taken them before and after every meal this week (since getting the product) and have noticed that even when eating restaurant meals, it reduces the “stuffed/bloated feeling” that adults can get from high fat or high carb meals. So far, this product has been more than I could have hoped for.

Top Secret Nutrition also has a whey protein I may review for you, but the two products above definitely made me a believer in the quality of the TSN product line.

Supplement Review #3 BEAST Nutrition

BEAST Nutrition is a product line that has a very hardcore appeal, but overall, it left me unimpressed.  I sampled the Amphetalean Fat Burner drink powder, the BEAST Mode PreWorkout, Creature Creatine, and the Aminolytes BCAAs.

First off, the name leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  I felt like I was in Breaking Bad taking this product.  The name just doesn’t do it for me.  Other than the name, the drink powder did nothing for me.  The flavor was decent, a TANG-like orange flavor that mixed VERY well in water, but the aftertaste made me want to eat paint to get the nastiness out of my mouth.  There was also no energy boost from this product whatsoever.  All in all, I was left disappointed.

The name is nice, but this was by far, the worst tasting of the group.  Pink Lemonade tasted nothing like lemonade and left an aftertaste in my mouth that took an hour to get out.  It didn’t mix well, even with good shaking, and there was also no energy boost from this PreWorkout either, which made me feel like I wasted a trip to the gym.  I guess with a name like that, I expected more.

Aminolytes actually had a decent flavor (but a weird heat burn in the throat while drinking it though) that I enjoyed.  The BCAA Mix was good too, and the fact that it’s mixed with electrolytes makes it a bonus.  I took this after the gym and realized it’s a good mix of aminos and a decent dosage.  All in all it was a good experience here.

Creature Creatine
This was the best tasting of the four.  I mixed it with a creatine free pre-workout I had on hand and hit the weights.  I only had one serving, so the long term effects are unknown, but I thought it mixed well and tasted great.

With two hits and two misses in the BEAST lineup, I was left unsatisfied.  They also process in an environment that process wheat, so also a no-go for celiacs.  On a ten point scale, I’d rate the BEAST experience a 6.

Time time time look what’s become of me.

We must be near beach bod season because I am getting a plethora of emails asking for tips to slim down and tone up.

Being fit, toned, or in shape doesn’t have a secret just requires discipline and time.

1. Think about what you’re putting into your body. I am not going to the extreme “organic everything” side, but I AM saying think about eating healthy and good food over fast or large quantity food. Do you really need that Diet Coke? If you have time to hit the McD’s drive through, don’t you have enough time to grab a salad at a grocery store (or make one)? Most times, easy isn’t healthy.

Discipline carries over into your workout. I know you may get sore and you may not feel like working out, but go anyway. Work harder, push through soreness, and stay on track. If you need to, get a gym buddy or trainer to help you be productive at the gym.

Make time to eat well, make time for your workouts, and make time to relax afterward. Health is all about food, exercise, and adequate sleep.

It takes work, not secret fixes to get in shape.

Anyone can reach the fitness goals they set for themselves if they are disciplined.

Don’t mess around with Gym

Emma wrote:

My boyfriend and I have been arguing more and more lately because he spends too much time at the gym.  He doesn’t NEED to be there, he’s in retail management not bodybuilding, but he feels the need to go twice a day and 4 days a week.  The problem is that he and I both have set work schedules and two of his gym days are on my days off.  He’s gone for 2 hours in the AM and 2 in the PM and I feel it really cuts into our time together and he says it’s not fair to ask him to cut back because he “is motivated”.  What is your take?

Compromise is important in a relationship.  You don’t seem to be making an unreasonable request and yet, he seems to feel that you’re asking too much of him.  Would you agree that he is being self-centered here?  It would certainly appear that way.

Don’t get me wrong, I am fully supportive of fitness and exercise, but I think there is a give and take that also has to happen in relationships.  Do you ever go with him?  I’d start there.  Go with him and get some exercise yourself, then maybe do breakfast or something outdoors after the gym.  After doing that for awhile, if you still feel the need for him to cut back, ask him to make the same commitment to you and cut back slightly on his workouts to spend more time with you.  Hopefully he sees the value in compromise.
